Many of the 147 (2022) inhabitants of Granyena de les Garrigues grow olive and almond trees as a main product of their business.
The village preserves many medieval features, like narrow streets and stone houses.
Both the old and the new churches were built during the two periods of prosperity, the repopulation period and the time when olive cultivation was spreading. The 18th-century Sant Miquel church boasts a beautiful Baroque façade and a Neoclassical inner nave. The old church with its simple late Romanesque façade is well preserved.
In the Major Valley, the remains of el Molí de la Societat (a 19th century mill) are preserved. There is also the hermitage dedicated to Mare de Déu del Roser (1990). The first weekend of October is the Festa Major and in the month of August the Cultural August is held.
